PSSPW Wrestler of The Month

It's that time again to pick our PSSPW Wrestler of The Month. This one is once again a no-brainers as "Vegas" Vic Valentino continues to rip through this federation like a hot knife through butter. Undefeated in his first nine matches, and his only tie coming in an impromptu title match where there was interference, Valentino has been absolutely unstoppable. Who the hell is ever gonna beat this guy?

PSSPW April Wrestler of the Month: "Vegas" Vic Valentino

The runner-up was 2-1 in April after winning the U.S. Title at Envy. After a bad March MoFo has picked himself up and is now the second U.S. Champion in PSSPW history.

Runner up: MoFo

PSSPW Tag Team Division

First I'd like to point out this is eight shows out of eight where results were posted four to twelve hours after the deadline. So far, damn good.

Our World Champion recently brought up the idea of bringing in the tag team titles in PSSPW. I thought I'd look into the proposal with some detail.

One thing is almost certain. There is going to be a huge tag team tournament--likely an entire PPV dedicated to it--to crown our first tag team champions. This is a very exciting proposition. While I feel it won't make things easy developing angles that center on that PPV in the preceding month, I still think it's a great idea. I feel there will be a big focus on the anticipation of the tournament while any angles or feuds that may be stifled will be minimal at worst.

Roster size is the biggest issue concerning a tag team division. How many tag teams will we have? Can we afford to bring tag matches into the mix? Right now no. We have three to four matches on average each week. We have thirteen active guys now (I'm counting AJ and Chaos, who've been out) and we're getting about 6 to 8 of these guys signing up each week. There have been a lot of new joiners the last few weeks and we have guys awaiting potential returns or debuts (Hudds, man in the Nixon mask, maybe Stitches and Spooge). The future is untoubtedly bright, but even one tag match a week right now isn't really a possibility. Once we can fill cards with 12 guys signing up a week then we can pool characters together and get a tag match each week (and even then, we don't have to have a tag match each week). That makes four matches and a tag match. With 12 guys you can even have 2 tag matches and two singles matches.

On a side note, with 12 guys you can also have 3 v 3, 2 v 2 v 2, or even 4 way battle royales.

I promise I'm not assuming you don't know how to count. :)

The number of tag teams after the tourney is also an issue that's been addressed. I don't feel like this is much of a problem because we can always put together impromptu tag teams. Its fun to pair guys who are feuding in tag matches together because there's a lot of tension created for the match. Putting together two guys who aren't tag partners together can also potentially break up and create allegiances.

Guys that aren't tag partners can still be paired up for a tag match.

There has been a lot of challenging going on so far when guys sign up for cards. Characters can also just sign up without making a challenge, and J Wind/Biggs can add them where they see fit angle-wise. This spices things up and makes it easier to put together impromptu tag partners.

As far as tag title matches, lack of competitive tag teams isn't really a concern either. Sure, you need at the very least 3 teams vying for the title, but they don't have to be fighting each other every week. In order to have a successful tag division every team must have a singles career they can also focus on. This prevents the same teams fighting each other every week. The tag champs don't need to be in tag matches every week, or even every pay per view. When every team is balancing a singles and tag career, they aren't obligated to find tag opponents just to be in a show. This strategy, combined with putting together impromptu tag teams on occasion, gives PSSPW variety in the tag division.

So, in my opinion, what do we really need for this tag tournament pay-per-view to happen? I feel like the only thing we need is twelve active guys regularly signing up for cards. If we can get 12 competitors per card on a regular basis then there isn't a problem in the tag ranks that's clear to me.

When will this tourney take place? I feel it shouldn't happen after we get 12+ guys signing up a few weeks in a row unless there are also a couple active guys each week taking time off. Reality is guys quit (just look at the roster page). If you fall back down to 8 or 10 guys then it will be tough filling shows AND maintaining a healthy tag division.

It's hard to predict when we'll have 12+ guys signing up on a regular basis. Summer is coming and that's usually the high point in participation (we have more free time). Guys will be sitting down after a day at the beach and an evening barbecue with fresh ideas. That's why I think our big (Wrestlemania type) event should be in July or early August. I also feel the tag tourney shouldn't be the ppv before this. I feel we need the ppv before our big ppv to reinforce running feuds, angles and storylines.

My hope (and prediction) is that by the ppv after Envy we'll have 12 guys sign up for a given card. If we can get to this level of participation while still having a few guys 'on break', J Wind and Biggs will have decisions to make. When will our big show be? Do we want to have this tournament the PPV before (which is a possibility, having an open PPV before the big one is just my two cents) the big PPV?

We as handlers have a say in it too. Please comment below with your thoughts.

If you actually said "DUH!" out loud while reading this at some point, I'm sorry. The blatantly obvious stuff was more for my clarity than anything. I'm a little "der de der!" sometimes...

Biggs' First Show Thoughts

Well we had a pretty big transition this week with J Wind on vacation. It was only natural if you worried about the future of the fed. Will results be up on time? Will they be up at all? Will they suck?

I stayed up to read them (just got done) and it was worth every minute of exhaustion imo. I have loved every show from J Wind so far and feel they've continued to improve every week. I think in a few years we're going to have to build him a shrine or something because he'll end up being the savior of South Park Wrestling.

That said, I feel this week's show was the best one to date. We had a rocky beginning as far as angle building in the early shows, but now the place is booming with great storylines, feuds and collaborations involving everyone. This card had two matches to begin with (unless you count the World Title shot match) and ended up with about five.

Results were funny and creative. We had lions and guns, scorpions, wooden horses, commentators wetting themselves, and Richard Nixon masks. Guys that were too busy to rp this week were added in segments and we've got five new guys over the past two weeks.

Wacko and I went at it during promo week and had a helluva match. He came out the winner and I was disappointed for about five seconds. The guy earned the win and made me laugh my ass off all week.

Stink's segment with the scorpion definitely had his style of pinache. I felt like it exemplified the character he is nurturing every week perfectly. MoFo has been one bad mutha... shut yo mouf, and this battle is really building anticipation.

Justice busted out two promos without even having a match this week (talk about dedication). Now his buddy is looking good and he's got a mystery man on his tail. Plus he took those pistol whips like a champ and made me mark out. I think that Hardcore Title may be established sooner than we think, though he may just up and decide to go after that World Title too with his talent. I'd also like to welcome Kuldron and can't wait to see what he brings to the table.

Most of all I want to congratulate Biggs for kicking some serious ass. He sure as hell squelched any doubt I was feeling about the quality and timeliness of the show. Our roster is filling up and

I'm impatiently awaiting the return of Hudds and DIE.

This show has me excited as hell and getting the wheels turning on how we can top this show in the next one.

Plus you can't beat results going up four hours after the deadline. :)

Please do me a favor and leave some comments because it really sucks looking and finding nothing. I know, I know... world's smallest violin... but seriously.

Thank you

Last week I commended AJ and Frank for their dedication in the way they've run PSSPW so well for the past month and a half.

This week I want to thank every member of the roster still around.

This post goes out to (in order of arrival and sign up) AJ Cash, Biggs, Stink, "Vegas" Vic Valentino, MoFo, Justice, (coming back soon) Dominic Ian Estrada and Hudds Magruder, Josh Chaos, Fusenshoff and Wacko Jr.

I sincerely appreciate all the dedication put forth in consistently writing, because its necessary for a fed to grow and thrive. Each and every one of you have handled yourselves admirably on the boards and tried to help each other grow as writers. Please pat yourselves on the back for your hard work. Everyone has made huge contributions to PSSPW's success so far.

I really enjoy the competitive writing, storylines, feuds, angles and comeraderie that come with this federation. With my first match coming up I'm excited as hell that this fed is doing so well.

Thanks again.

State of PSSPW Adress

We've definitely had a transition in PSSPW and imo it's been very successful. I'd like to give major props to AJ and Biggs right now for posting six straight shows within 12 hours after the deadline.

That is dedication.

They've been damn good shows too and it seems like they're improving every week. I'm not sure there's ever been this kind of consistency from a team running a SPW fed before (prove me wrong). AJ's got a two week vacation that he'll be spending in his girlfriend's bed ;) so the burden falls on Biggs to keep up the perfection and I have complete faith in him that he'll keep the streak alive.

As far as the roster right now, it's not exactly optimal, but it's not bad either. Pretty much everyone is part of the old days of SPW and we definitely need some new blood. Talent wise, the guys we have are all great. I know for a fact it's been very hard to pick winners every week by AJ and Biggs because the creativity is flowing from everyone.

I think that the guys that have stuck around since the beginning aren't going anywhere and if we keep bringing in new joiners more will stay. I'm here for the long haul and Wacko's a new edition this week too (his rep of sticking around speaks for itself). Pretty soon we won't be having 3 match shows anymore (and yet they were that much better for it this week).

The fact is this is a new fed and everyone goes through their growing pains, but the real difference between the feds that last and the ones that don't are timely results and involvement in angles from everyone.

Bottom line- if this keeps up the older and more mature SPWites are going to have a fed that will stand the test of time.

March's Wrestler of the Month

After one month of PSSPW fun, one man has stood out above the rest and deserves some recognition. "Vegas" Vic Valentino has been consistently beating every opponent PSSPW has to offer including the red hot and undefeated Super Stitches in a memorable ladder match at Bamboozled. He is Damn Yankee Blog's Wrestler Of The Month.

Congrats Vic!

Runner up for Wrestler of the Month is Super Stitches who up until last night has also been beating everyone he faces.

Both of these guys deserve recognition.

Bamboozled Review

Best show so far imo. I enjoyed the whole thing and liked the added detail to the matches. I marked out when Chaos and Justice both went through the tables. Biggs got a good win (how do you kick out when this guy pins you?) and AJ's monkey came through in the clutch again (typing that just didn't feel right).

Stink got a win he deserved against DIE who has a lot of talent. I would've liked to have seen more angle development when MoFo came out for the challenge. Still, that will be a great feud and a well deserved title shot for MoFo who took his licks and kept coming.

I'm looking forward to seeing where Lobo looks for a feud next- maybe he'll help J Wind take out AJ Cash. With Justice looking for Chaos' and Stitches' necks it will be very interesting to see who will step up and challenge Vegas for the Big Gold Belt.

Overall great show and it's very fun seeing the shows improve every week. Guys are taking their losses well and getting well-deserved wins.

Things are starting to really take off storyline wise and everyone's starting to get into a groove with their promos.

Keep up the good work!

P.S. On a personal note I now have one guy left in the TEAM Invitational Tourney and I'm still in MBE, but expect a completely new character coming from me very soon (there's still a chance I'll bring back an old name though ;) )

Blogging For PSSPW

With Bamboozled on it's way and with the crowning of two new champions fast approaching I feel it's a good time to unveil my South Park Wrestling blog- Damn Yankee.

There are a few of these in the "original" e-Wrestling world and I felt it would be fun to start one for South park Wrestling and particularly PSSPW.

I'll try to get an update about once a week or two on average up here and feel free to comment below.

~~~~~~~
We're a month in with PSSPW and things are going terrific so far imo. I think we have a strong foundation of handlers that are dedicated and with that said, roster size is maybe the biggest PSSPW weakness. J Wind is doing an extraordinary job getting results posted on time and they're well written with the help of Biggs. The forums, website and roster are updated almost immediately and the guys have even been doing graphics for people. It's truly a 'handler's fed' thanks to these guys.
Stitches vs Vegas will be one hell of a match and both guys really deserve their shots. The US Title match was a welcome surprise to me. Stink and DIE have earned their shots as well.
Justice came into the fed and has been causing a ruckus we desperately needed. I hope other handlers follow suit and PM angles to J Wind and Biggs to spice up the shows. This fed is storyline/angle/feud based and wrestling is secondary so don't be afraid to think up something original for results.
I think Stink is doing a fine job with his transition. Lobo is welcome new blood. Glad to hear MoFo is back because no one deserves a win right now more than him. I think we're witnessing the budding of a future star in Mack. Vegas and Stitches are my top reads right now. Sed's promos are an art form in themselves. AJ/Wind feud is the best in the fed and I think Biggs has great potential he's going to tap into soon. I'm hoping to see more out of The Hunstman and SGC.
Thanks for taking five out and giving this a read. Leave whatever you want in the comments for the 'Damn Yankee'.
